This is a rapport-building technique that involves subtly matching the body language, tone, and pace of someone you’re speaking to. When used respectfully, it builds connection and trust.

  • Observe the person’s posture, gestures, speaking rhythm, and tone.
  • Begin to mirror small elements in a natural way.
  • Use pacing (matching their rhythm) before leading (introducing new ideas or directions).
  • Avoid mimicking — the key is subtle alignment.

5. Outcome Thinking

NLP places strong emphasis on setting clear, well-defined outcomes instead of vague goals. This directs your focus and primes your mind for achievement.
