This involves encapsulating the packet in a new frame compatible with the technology used in the next network segment, such as Ethernet or Wi-Fi. The packet is then transmitted to the next router or network device along the path.

Redundancy means that there are multiple paths for data to reach its destination, so if one path fails, another can be used.
