Televisions in Hoenn are more than decoration. In Emerald they air programs when something notable has happened, and the screen even flashes until you watch the new segment. Most broadcasts are tied to your actions or to time based events coordinated by Hoenn’s TV network.
What makes the schedule change
- Your actions create shows. Rename a Pokémon and you can get the Name Rater Show. Battle and give a quote to the reporter duo and an interview airs. Win big, discover hidden items, encounter a Shiny, or visit Secret Bases and you can trigger themed programs that recap those feats.
- Post game news unlocks. After you enter the Hall of Fame, the Pokémon News bulletin begins reporting time sensitive happenings such as mass outbreaks, Lilycove rooftop sales, Slateport vitamin discounts, Mauville Game Corner service days, Blend Master appearances, and even Battle Frontier win streak spotlights.
- Random daily reports. Once you are Champion, normal play can roll special events in the background. If one is triggered, a Pokémon News broadcast about that event appears the next in game day.
- Record mixing adds programs. Linking with another cartridge unlocks extra shows, for example What’s No. 1 in Hoenn Today, 3 Cheers for Pokéblocks, Trainer Fan Club spotlights, Secret Base Visit, Contest updates, and link battle highlights. These segments let your friends’ activity show up on your TVs.
How to know a new segment is waiting
If a program is queued, the TV’s screen flashes and keeps flashing until you watch it. Otherwise you see a generic idle line and no special show airs.
Bottom line
Emerald’s television evolves with you. Story progress, daily event rolls, and your personal achievements feed the broadcast schedule, and record mixing widens the lineup with multiplayer driven features. Keep playing, keep linking, and keep checking flashing sets and Hoenn’s TV will keep changing to match your journey.
