Life often presents us with challenges and uncertainties. We may find ourselves grappling with deficiencies and weaknesses instead of strengths and inclinations. In these moments, it’s crucial to adopt a strategy that can lead us to our true calling. This strategy involves ignoring our weaknesses and resisting the urge to conform to others’ expectations. Instead, we should focus on the small things we are genuinely good at.

Rather than getting lost in grand plans or distant dreams, we should direct our energy towards becoming proficient in these immediate and simple skills. This approach not only builds our confidence but also serves as a foundation from which we can explore other pursuits. By taking small steps and concentrating on our strengths, we gradually uncover our Life’s Task—the unique path that resonates with our essence.

It’s important to note that our Life’s Task may not always manifest as a grand or promising inclination. Sometimes, it emerges from our deficiencies, pushing us to concentrate on the few things we excel at. By honing these skills, we learn the value of discipline and the rewards of our efforts. Much like a lotus flower that expands outward from a strong and confident center, our abilities grow and flourish.

We should resist the temptation to envy those who seem naturally gifted in various areas. Often, such individuals fail to appreciate the importance of diligence and focus, paying the price for their lack of discipline later in life. In contrast, by following the strategy of mastering the small things, we create a solid foundation for our personal and professional growth.

This approach is equally applicable when we encounter setbacks and difficulties. During such moments, it is wise to lean into the few things we know we excel at, using them as a means to rebuild our confidence. Remember, when in doubt, focus on the things you know you do well, and let your capabilities expand outward from this center of strength.
