Ravens do not need access to water overnight. These birds are diurnal, meaning they are awake and active during the day and sleep through the night. Like most birds, they follow a natural rhythm tied to light. They eat and drink during daylight hours and settle into rest once it gets dark.

Ravens are capable of regulating their hydration during the day. As long as they are given frequent and reliable access to clean water throughout the day, they will drink enough to remain healthy. By nightfall, they typically have no need to drink again until morning.

However, if you are caring for a raven, it is still good practice to keep water available at all times, even overnight. While it may not be used at night, ensuring constant access helps cover any unexpected patterns or behavioral needs. In warmer climates, where heat may linger into the night, some ravens may occasionally drink after sunset.

The key concern is cleanliness and availability during waking hours. Water should be changed daily, kept out of direct sunlight to prevent bacterial growth, and placed in a stable, easy-to-reach dish.

In short, while ravens do not need to drink during the night, maintaining access to clean water at all times is a simple precaution that supports their health and ensures you are meeting their needs fully.
