Almond milk is often seen as a light coffee add-in, and in most cases, that is accurate. The amount of fat you get from almond milk in one coffee is usually quite small because most people only use a splash, not a full cup.

A full 1-cup serving of unsweetened almond milk usually contains about 2.5 to 3 grams of fat, depending on the brand. Blue Diamond Almond Breeze Unsweetened Original Almondmilk lists 2.5 grams of total fat per 240 mL cup, while Silk Unsweet Almondmilk lists 3 grams of total fat per 240 mL cup. Both list 0 grams of saturated fat per serving.

For one coffee, the usual amount is much smaller than a cup. A light splash might be about 1 tablespoon, while a creamier coffee might use 2 to 4 tablespoons. Since 1 cup equals about 16 tablespoons, the fat amount breaks down roughly like this:

So, for a normal cup of coffee with almond milk, you are usually getting less than 1 gram of fat. Even a fairly generous splash is still low in fat compared with using cream, half-and-half, or whole milk.

Most of the fat in unsweetened almond milk is unsaturated fat. For example, Silk lists 0.5 grams of polyunsaturated fat and 2 grams of monounsaturated fat per cup, while Blue Diamond lists 0.5 grams of polyunsaturated fat and 1.5 grams of monounsaturated fat per cup.

The main thing to watch is not usually the fat, but the type of almond milk. Unsweetened almond milk is typically very low in sugar, while sweetened or flavored versions can add extra sugar and calories. Some “barista” almond milks may also contain added oils or extra ingredients to improve frothing, so their fat content can be higher than regular unsweetened almond milk.

In simple terms, the almond milk used in one coffee usually adds only a tiny amount of fat. If you use 2 to 4 tablespoons, expect about one-third to three-quarters of a gram of fat. For most people, that is nutritionally minor.
